Melissa Marcus
Charter Accountability Facilitator

Melissa works directly with school leadership and staff members to support the completion of charter renewal applications, authorizer site visits and annual accountability reports for each of our charter schools. She has taught in charter schools in New Jersey and was a Teach For America Corps Member.  Melissa holds an M.A. in education policy from Teachers College, Columbia University and a B.A. in political science, legal studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Elizabeth Mason
Instructional Specialist, Technology and Writing

Elizabeth is responsible for coaching global history teachers participating in the grant-funded Drive To Write program. Before coming to New Visions, she worked for 10 years as a high school English literature and history teacher in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and at international schools in Brazil and China. She holds a B.A. in history and communications from Texas State University and a M.Ed in educational technology from the University of Texas.

Karolyn Maurer
Instructional Specialist, Special Education

Karolyn supports New Visions teachers with literacy and math intervention programs. Prior to New Visions, she has worked as a special education teacher, coach, and administrator in New York City district and charter high schools. Most recently, she was the founding Director of Special Education at MESA Charter High School, where she established a strong ICT program and purposeful intervention services for students with disabilities. Karolyn holds a B.S. from Syracuse University and a M.S. from Long Island University. 

Kory McBride
Program Officer, College Access

Kory is responsible for helping schools create and sustain effective 9th through 12th grade college readiness, access and transition support systems for student and their families. As a college access professional, Kory has worked with numerous Department of Education charter schools, community based organizations, as well as individuals. In 2014, He was named the State University of New York (SUNY) NYC College Counselor of the Year at Thurgood Marshall Academy for Learning and Social Change, a New Visions affinity school.  He currently serves on the SUNY Enrollment Management Advisory Council and holds a B.A. from Pensacola Christian College and a Master's certificate from Fordham University. 

Jackie McKinney
Program Coordinator

Jackie is responsible for the coordination and logistical support for leadership development programs, including TALENT and CLASS. Before coming to New Visions, she worked in nonprofit program implementation, advocacy and organizational capacity building for community based organizations with a focus on after-school and public/public charter school partnerships. She holds an MPA from Baruch College through the National Urban Fellows program and a B.A. in communications from Elon University. 

Christina McNamara
Application Developer

Christina joined New Visions in 2012. She is responsible for supporting data specialists in the Affinity Group schools. Prior to joining New Visions, Christina taught fifth grade as a Teach for America corps member as well as middle school math at a NYC charter school. She holds an M.A. in education policy from Brown University and a B.A. from Kenyon College.

Lucinda Mendez
Director of Transfer Schools

Lucinda is responsible for facilitating a culture focused on leadership development, student learning and achievement, as well as accountability for improved outcomes for New Visions transfer high school students. She began her career in NYC public schools in 1992 and has served as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach and founding principal of a small transfer high school in the South Bronx.  She earned a B.S. in psychology/sociology from Wesleyan University, an M.A. in bilingual education from Long Island University and is a graduate of the NYC Aspiring Principals Program.

Carlos Mendoza
Full Stack Developer

Carlos is responsible for implementing and maintaining software applications. Prior to New Visions, he worked as a software engineer specializing in full-stack JavaScript at Cedrus Consulting. He also has experience working with youth in a number of program roles with City Year New York and subsequently the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). He holds a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University and is a graduate of Fullstack Academy.

Michele Meredith
Deputy Director for School Improvement

Michele is responsible for developing and implementing two, key organizational strategies at New Visions: continuous improvement and strategic data check-ins. As a member of the school support team, she works intensively with staff to support New Visions' 6-12 school principals and leadership teams in building and strengthening school-level administrative systems. Before coming to New Visions, Michele spent four years teaching high school English at Explorations Academy in the South Bronx, beginning there as a Teach for America corps member. She holds a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University, an M.S. in secondary English education from Lehman College, and a B.A. in comparative literature and French from the University of Michigan.

Rodney Moore
Network Administrator

Rodney is responsible for supporting the technology needs of New Visions Charter High Schools.  He previously worked at a performing arts school in a similar position and at a consulting firm deploying networks, servers and computers.  He holds an A+ certificate from CompTIA, and is currently pursuing ITIL Foundation certification as well as a degree in electromechanical engineering at Borough of Manhattan Community College.

Rinaldo Mora
Operations Assistant

Rinaldo Mora is responsible for providing support to the administrative and finance teams.  He will be managing all aspects of procurement including vendor relations and ordering of necessary office supplies and materials.  Prior to coming to New Visions, he worked at several venues providing optimal customer service and maintaining inventory control systems.  He also brings experience working in accounts payable and receivable, maintaining and processing invoices.  Rinaldo holds a B.A. in economics from Fordham University

Danieta Morgan
Community Manager

Danieta is responsible for implementing and expanding the work of our systems team with our Affinity Schools. Before coming to New Visions, she taught at an international school in Chennai, India where she developed strategic plans for technology enhanced differentiation. Prior to this work, she served as a teacher in NYC. She holds a Bachelors Degree from St. John's University in Education. Danieta is a Google Certified Innovator for her cutting edge, meaningful use of technology in the classroom.

Sarah Muffly
Strategic Data Facilitator

Sarah works with a portfolio of NYC DOE Community Schools to implement a set of New Visions data tools and develop reliable organizational processes that ensure all students have the best possible chance to graduate from high school. Prior to joining New Visions, she was a Fulbright-Clinton fellow in Haiti, where she worked at the Haitian Ministry of Education. Previously, she worked at the Earth Institute at Columbia University on education projects in Haiti, Ghana and India. She also has experience teaching English as a foreign language in France and in the U.S. Sarah holds a master's degree from Teachers College - Columbia University, and a bachelor's degree from Smith College.

Jill Myers
Director of Instruction

Jill Myers joined New Visions in 2008. She oversees New Visions' instructional supports to district schools. Prior to joining New Visions, Myers brought 30 years of experience as a public school educator, including special education teacher, director of the Clinton School for Writers and Artists, founding principal of Baruch College Campus High School and local instructional superintendent of the New York City Department of Education's Region 9. She an M.A. in special education from Teachers College, Columbia, and a M.Ed. in educational leadership from Bank Street College of Education.

Neeraj Nagpal
Director of Finance and Administration

Neeraj Nagpal has 20 years of experience in the not-for-profit, real estate and insurance industries, and brings a proven record of disciplined financial leadership.  Prior to joining New Visions, Neeraj worked with NEO Philanthropy, Post Graduate Center for Mental Health, and Habitat for Humanity, New York City.  Neeraj holds an MBA in finance and a Master's degree in economics from the University of Delaware.

Jasmine Olmo
Senior Development Associate

Jasmine supports grant management and proposal development efforts as part of the organization's fundraising team. Prior to New Visions, she worked at the Rainforest Alliance on the major gifts and institutional giving teams, where she was responsible for prospect identification and assisting in proposal writing for foundation and government funders.  She also has experience teaching English as a Second Language in New York City and abroad. Jasmine holds a bachelor's degree in English Language Arts from Hunter College.


Francis Pegus
Network Architect

Francis joined New Visions in 2012. He is responsible for building and supporting the growing infrastructure needs of the organization and the charter schools we support.He previously served as lead support tech at Delzotto Consulting and provided system administration services. He has a B.A. in computer information systems from Baruch College.

Jefferson Pestronk
Director of Strategy

Jefferson joined New Visions in 2014. He supports ongoing strategy and execution of work with New Visions' Affinity Schools and Community/Renewal Schools. Previously, he was director of special initiatives in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Innovation and Improvement, where he was responsible for designing and executing the Investing in Innovation (i3) program, as well as advising on research and development-related policy. He has also been a principal at The Parthenon Group, where he consulted with school systems including New York City, Chicago and Washington, DC. He holds a doctorate in education leadership from Harvard University and a B.S.E. in operations research and financial engineering from Princeton University.

Nicole Player
Associate Director of Human Resources & Payroll Systems

Nicole joined New Visions in 2012. She provides human resource support to New Visions staff and to New Visions charter schools. Nicole previously worked for Rocket Software in Waltham, Mass. Nicole's background as an HR generalist includes benefits administration, on-boarding, recruitment and performance management. She earned her B.A. in business management from Providence College in Rhode Island.

Nitita Pongsanarakul
Strategic Data Facilitator

Nitita works with a portfolio of NYC DOE Community Schools to implement New Visions data tools and develop reliable organizational processes to help students graduate from high school. Before coming to New Visions, she worked as an operations and human resources manager at a charter school in Brooklyn, NY. She previously served as an AmeriCorps Service Member in Boston where she later became the college access program manager for her site. She holds a Bachelor's degree in finance and minor in international studies from Bentley University.

Joseph Posner
Director of Human Resources

Joe joined New Visions in 2013. He responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of all aspects of human resources at New Visions' main office and expanding network of charter schools.  He most recently was the senior director at the Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation.  Joe holds a master's degree in forensic psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy from Binghamton University.

Christine Powell
Talent Acquisition Manager

Christine is responsible for spearheading the HR Talent Acquisition Team with a key focus on teacher hiring across New Visions charter and district schools. Most recently, she served as a consultant at Liberty Blue Worldwide where she focused on executive search placements. Prior to that, she served as the Associate Director of Talent Acquisition for the Dentsu Aegis Network. She has over a decade of recruitment and human resources experience, and holds a B.A. in English from the University of Delaware. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in education. 

Krystal Puello
Accounts Payable Specialist

Krystal is responsible for processing accounts payable disbursements for the New Visions Charter High Schools network. Before coming to New Visions, she worked as a teller at JP Morgan Chase and as an administrative assistant intern at Fieldstone Properties. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and speech pathology from Lehman College.

Kiran Dilip Purohit
Director, Curriculum & Instruction

Kiran joined New Visions in 2012. She works on the development of curriculum across content areas. Prior to New Visions, she worked as curriculum and instruction specialist at EduChange, Inc., where she collaborated with schools to develop coherent secondary science and math curricula. Before that, she taught science and math in middle schools in New York City.  She holds Master's degrees from Teachers College and New York University, and an Ed.D in curriculum studies from Columbia University, Teachers College. . 

Liz Ramirez
Instructional Specialist, Math

Liz is responsible for collaborating with teacher teams and New Visions staff to produce inquiry-based curriculum in math.  Liz has experience teaching middle and high school math in New York City schools and abroad. She holds a bachelor’s of education in mathematics from the University of Alberta in Canada and an MA in teaching from Miami University of Ohio.

Kameelah Rasheed
Instructional Specialist

Kameelah collaborates with strategic inquiry teacher teams to produce Common Core-aligned curricula. Kameelah taught high school social studies for five years in California and New York. She holds a B.A. in public policy and Africana studies from Pomona College and an Ed.M in secondary education from Stanford University.

Denisse Rodriguez Mota
Talent Acquisition Assistant

Denisse  is responsible for supporting the Talent Acquisition Team with screening teacher candidates for New Visions schools.  Additionally, she is responsible for posting job descriptions and attending career fairs to attract new applicants. Before coming to New Visions, she interned at nonprofits including the National Down Syndrome Society and the Wildlife Conservation Society. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Hamilton College.

Kyron Rogers
G-Suite Coordinator

Kyron joined New Visions in 2012. He is responsible for the implementation, support and integration of G-Suite technology in New Visions-supported schools. He previously worked as a program associate in support of New Visions district schools. Prior to New Visions, he worked in administrative support for after-school and summer programs for SCO Family of Services. He majored in American studies at Tufts University.

Kristen Rosa
Strategic Data Facilitator

Kristen Rosa works with a portfolio of New Visions’ Affinity Transfer Schools to implement a set of New Visions data tools and develop the reliable organizational processes that ensure all students have the best possible chance of graduating from high school. Before coming to New Visions, she worked as a high school teacher in South Dakota and a youth worker in Boston. As a high school teacher, she taught Psychology and ELA, with a focus on struggling readers and repeat freshmen. In addition, she served as a data manager, helping to coordinate testing and provide teachers and administrators with relevant information to help adjust instruction. Kristen holds a B.A. in sociology from Smith College.  

Susan Rosello
Program Assistant, Curriculum and Instruction

Susan is responsible for providing administrative and project support to the curriculum and instruction department. Before coming to New Visions she worked as an administrative assistant for an independently owned and operated ESL institute for adult learners in New York City. She holds a B.A. in theatre from SUNY Potsdam.

Dazjon Ross
Program Coordinator, Charter

Dazjon is responsible for supporting the charter team's branding, student recruitment efforts, school lotteries, family engagement and community engagement as well as partnership building efforts.  Dazjon has a bachelor's degree in technology and communication design from the NYC College of Technology and served as the program manager at Harlem Children's Zone for its Baby College Initiative.

John Salazar
Instructional Specialist, Science

John Salazar is responsible for supporting science teachers within the New Visions Charter High Schools network through professional development, coaching and curriculum development. Before coming to New Visions, he worked as a NYC Department of Education science instructional coach, collaborating with a team that designed citywide professional development in the areas of science, social studies and ELA. John previously taught general and advanced placement high school chemistry. He holds an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from the University of San Diego and an MPA in public and nonprofit management from New York University.

Stephanie Sandor
Lead Human Resources Business Partner

Stephanie is responsible for providing support to New Visions and New Visions Charter High Schools staff in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, policy and procedure, compensation and benefits. Before coming to New Visions, she worked at the Natural Resources Defense Council as a human resources manager.  Her past experience includes acting as a strategic partner to domestic and international client groups, providing counsel on people strategy, talent selection (including diversity outreach) and leadership development. She holds a B.A. in political science and Spanish from St. Lawrence University and an M.S. in human resources management from The New School. 

Danielle Scaramellino
Deputy Director, Product Development

Danielle joined New Visions in 2010.  She currently leads the Product Development team in creating tools that transform schools' ability to effectively plan, execute and evaluate the efficacy of core system initiatives, and maximize the impact of technology in support of student learning.  This work is integral to New Visions’ support of schools in modernizing school infrastructure to improve the responsiveness and quality of operations, instruction and student support.  She earned her B.A. in international affairs from Northeastern University and a master's in international education development from NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education & Human Development.  She has also participated in short-term education research endeavors in India, Thailand, South Africa and Zambia.

Asher Scott
Instructional Specialist, Technology and Writing

Asher is responsible for coaching global history teachers to meaningfully use technology within their practice. Funded by the Drive to Write grant, the focus of Asher's position is on using technology to build and implement literacy tools that streamline feedback and assessment cycles toward improved student outcomes. Prior to his role as an instructional specialist, Asher worked extensively as a history and English teacher in Melbourne, Australia. He completed his Master's of Teaching at the University of Melbourne, and spent a year of the program teaching and studying at the University of Oulu in Finland.

Aisha Sharif
Resident Researcher

Aisha supports the data analytics unit with the development of tools and analyses for New Visions district and charter schools. She is a senior at Stanford University, studying management science & engineering with a minor in Islamic studies. She is passionate about education equity and was previously an education and youth development fellow with the Haas Center for Public Service and has previously interned with the Center for Research on Education Outcomes. 

Shoshana Silverman
Program Officer, PowerSchool Administrator

Shoshana is responsible for assisting the Charter Operations unit with a focus on systems support across the charter school network. She supports data integration of systems such as PowerSchool, Student Sorter, and ATS, both through the ongoing collection of student performance data and through quality assurance. Shoshana comes to New Visions from Rodeph Sholom School where she was a teacher. She holds a B.A. in Latin and Greek Language from Oberlin College.


Kathleen Smith
Director of Leadership

Kathleen joined New Visions in 2012. She works intensively with principals and school leadership teams to develop strategies to prepare students for graduation, higher education and the work force.  She previously served as a chief academic officer at Jobs for the Future. She holds M.A. in school leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education.  

Simrun Soni
Strategic Data Facilitator

Simrun is responsible for data analysis and support for all New Visions charter schools. As a strategic data facilitator, she works with a portfolio of charter schools to implement New Visions data tools and develop reliable organizational processes to help students graduate from high school. Prior to this position, she served as a resident researcher at New Visions, utilizing qualitative and quantitative research to support New Visions' programmatic development, staff inquiries and policy projects. She holds a Bachelor's degree in economics from Penn State University and a Master's degree in education and social policy from New York University.

Erin Stark
Director, Special Education

Erin joined New Visions in 2013. She is responsible for developing dynamic Integrated Co-Teaching programs for our charter schools. Her prior work experience includes studying for a Ph.D. in co-teaching at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, coordinating the special education program at Uncommon Charter High School and teaching ELA for seven years at Brooklyn Preparatory High School. She holds a B.A. in psychology from SUNY Oswego and a M.S. in urban education from Long Island University.

Caroline Suh
Instructional Specialist

Caroline is responsible for collaborating with teacher teams to produce inquiry-based curriculum in the humanities. For the last 14 years, she has worked as an English language arts teacher for the Institute for Collaborative Education in Manhattan and Lyons Community School in Brooklyn, as well as a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching English in West Africa. She holds a B.A. in american literature and culture from UCLA, and an M.A. in English education from Teachers College, Columbia University. 

Wendy Thomas-Williams
Math Instructional Coach

Wendy is responsible for coaching and developing novice and mentor teachers in mathematics through our teacher residency program. Before coming to New Visions, she designed and implemented job-embedded professional development for NYC schools in Common Core aligned mathematics and science. At Northeastern Illinois University, Wendy managed professional development for the Intensified Algebra Project, directed the Interactive Teaching and Learning (ITL) Mathematics Project, taught mathematics teaching methods courses and supervised novice teachers. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Missouri and a Master's degree in urban education from Concordia University.

Sara Toguchi
Instructional Specialist

Sara is responsible for supporting teams of math teachers in their capacity to collaborate effectively and make evidence based instructional decisions. Sara has spent the last 10+ years growing her love of mathematics, teaching high school students, and coaching other mathematics educators.  She has an M.A. in Mathematics and Secondary Mathematics Education from the City College of New York.    

Angie Torres
Compliance and Advocacy Officer, Special Populations

Angie Torres joins New Visions as the . She supports special education and "English as a native language (emergent bilingual)" students by helping schools to meet the needs of these populations through transition planning, compliance and advocacy.  Prior to New Visions, she worked as a special educator and teacher leader in the South Bronx and in East New York. She is also the adjunct professor of an online/in-person course at Hunter College that helps new teachers create successful classrooms in urban school settings.  Angie was a member of NYC Teaching Fellows and holds an M.S. in special education from City College. 

Shannon Tracy
Talent Acquisition Associate

Shannon is responsible for leading teacher recruitment efforts for select New Visions district public high schools, as well as, supporting organization-wide recruitment activities through job fairs, information sessions and resume/phone screens. Before coming to New Visions, she most recently worked as the assessment operations associate for The Achievement Network, managing the recruitment function for several key roles and supporting on-boarding and data assessment. She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. 

Iris Trinidad
Accounts Payable Specialist

Iris is responsible for processing accounts payable disbursements for the New Visions Charter High Schools network. She started at New Visions in 2015 as an admissions assistant, providing support for charter school lotteries. Prior to New Visions, she worked at Park Avenue Securities as a cash control specialist. Iris has over 10 years of experience in office administration and support. She holds an Associate's degree in business administration & accounting from ASA college.

Stephanie Urena
Program Officer

Stephanie joined New Visions in 2012. She manages student recruitment for the network of charter schools as well as the application system and lottery.  Prior to joining New Visions, she worked as a project assistant at the NYU Arthur O. Eve Opportunity Programs and as a field counselor with Esperanza Community Options for Youth. Stephanie holds a bacheror's in mental health and psychology and a master’s degree in social work from NYU.

Andrea Velikov
Program Coordinator

Andrea is responsible for providing program, administrative and analytical support to the Micro-Certification program.  Prior to joining New Visions, Andrea worked as a program assistant at the American Museum of Natural History where she coordinated the admissions process and provided administrative support for the museum’s Master of Arts in Teaching program.  Andrea is currently pursuing an M.A. in applied educational leadership and management at the University of London through its distance learning program.

Devin Venkatesan
Full Stack Developer

Devin is responsible for developing and maintaining software applications. Prior to New Visions, he served as a software engineer at CommerceHub in Albany, NY. He holds a bachelor's of information technology from Anna University in India and a master's of information systems management from Carnegie Mellon University. 

Desiree Venturanza
Jr. Human Resources Generalist

Desiree is responsible for supporting the ​HR business partners with recruitment, benefits​ administration​, ​new hire on-boarding and data tracking. Prior to joining New Visions, ​Desiree worked at World Youth Alliance as an operations and human resources manager. Desiree has an M.S. in human resources management and development from NYU.  ​

Rachelle Verdier
Deputy Director, Urban Teacher Residency

Rachelle Verdier joined New Visions in 2011. She provides professional development support to the teacher-training program that integrates residents' graduate coursework with hands-on experiences in public schools. Rachelle has over 10 years of experience as a NYC science teacher, including 6 years as a staff developer. Previously she served as a 7th and 8th grade science teacher, 7th grade technology teacher at I.S. 68 (Isaac Bildersee Intermediate School) in Brooklyn. Rachelle earned her B.A. in environmental science from Boston University and her M.A. in secondary science education from Brooklyn College.

David Wees
Formative Assessment Specialist

David joined New Visions in 2013 and is responsible for producing inquiry-based curriculum aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards in high school mathematics and designing high quality professional development related to that curriculum. He has taught middle school and high school mathematics and science in New York, London, Bangkok and Vancouver. He holds a B.Sc. in mathematics, a B.Ed. in secondary mathematics, and an M.A. in educational technology.

Russell West Jr.
Deputy Director of Instruction

Russell West Jr. joined New Visions in 2011. He leads a team of instructional coaches supporting Common Core aligned mathematics instruction in district and charter schools. He came to New Visions after serving as director of Humanities College Preparatory, a small learning community at Hillcrest High School in Queens, where Russell taught mathematics, English, humanities and college composition. He is an alumnus of both the New York City Teaching Fellows and the New Visions/Baruch College SAM program, and he holds degrees in history, English, law, mathematics and educational leadership.

Moira Wilkinson
Instructional Specialist, Multilingual Learner Project

Moira works with teacher teams to develop their capacity in supporting the academic and socio-emotional needs of multilingual learners. Prior to New Visions, she worked as a Spanish and history teacher in Milwaukee public schools and as a teacher educator in the City College of New York Bilingual Education and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program. Most recently, she founded a consulting firm to support schools and school systems in improving educational equity and environmental sustainability in the United States and internationally. Moira holds a B.A. from Dominican University in political science, an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin in Latin American studies, and a doctorate from Columbia University in international education development. 

Brithney Williams
Administrative Assistant

Brithney serves as the administrative assistant to the president. She previously worked at an early learning center assisting children with special needs. Her experience in education began while serving as a Jumpstart Corps member where she worked to provide quality education to preschool students in under-resourced communities. In addition, she became a member of Forestdale Inc., providing one-on-one literacy tutoring for elementary school children. Brithney is a member of the first graduating class of the New Visions Affinity school, Academy for the Careers in Television and Film. She holds a B.A. in speech language pathology from Brooklyn College.

Kat Wrobel
Development Assistant

Kat supports the development team's operations, including gift processing and database management. She has interned with various nonprofit organizations, including the Kosciuszko Foundation, Doctors without Borders, and Families for Freedom. Most recently, she supported survey administrations in NYC public high schools for NYU's Research Alliance for New York City Public Schools. She holds a bachelor's degree from the City College of New York in international studies and a master's degree from The New School in international affairs.

Joanna Yip
Instructional Specialist, ENL

Joanna Yip is responsible for designing, developing and coordinating a long term strategy for multilingual learners. Prior to coming to New Visions, she worked as an educational consultant, supporting schools and districts to improve curriculum and instruction for multilingual students. Her projects included: developing labsite schools for Bridge to Academic Success, a curriculum for ENL students with emerging literacy; leadership coaching for the Internationals Network for Public Schools; professional development and coaching for Strategic Inquiry. She has worked in the field of education as a teacher, college counselor, instructional coach and as an instructor in various teacher preparation programs. She has a Master's degree in TESOL, and a doctorate in urban education policy from the CUNY Graduate Center, where she did research on the educational histories of newcomer immigrant youth. She received her training in school leadership at the New York City Leadership Academy. 

Jonathan Yoo
Lead Strategic Data Facilitator

Jonathan works with a portfolio of NYCDOE Affinity Schools to support the implementation of New Visions data tools and develop the reliable organizational processes that ensure all students have the best chance of graduating from high school. Prior to New Visions, he worked as a graduate research assistant at the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University and as an evaluation consultant with Boston Public Schools. Previously, he was a middle school math teacher and department chair in San Antonio, Texas. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Rutgers University and a master's in education policy and management from Harvard University.

Jada Young
Program Coordinator, Recruitment and Admissions

Jada is responsible for supporting the New Visions teacher certification team in recruiting and admitting future New York City teachers. Before coming to New Visions, she coordinated youth empowerment programs serving underrepresented youth in the Bronx and Brooklyn, respectively. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Black studies from SUNY New Paltz and a Master of Arts degree in Africana studies from the University at Albany, SUNY.

Jamie Yu Ramos
Full Stack Developer

Jamie is responsible for web application development as part of the Cloud Lab team.  Before joining New Visions, he worked as a software developer at Diobox and at ADP. He also led front end development at a Toronto based incubator, Resmis Ventures.  In a previous lifetime, he worked at Washington Mutual Bank as a support specialist, team lead, and business analyst. He holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Washington and is a graduate of General Assembly.

Angel Zheng
Senior Policy Analyst

Angel is responsible for providing advanced project management and support to the senior policy advisor and the senior management team of New Visions. She offers critical research and policy analysis support to departments on decisions required to achieve their goals and coordinates projects undertaken by cross-departmental teams. Angel previously taught abroad in Macau as a Fulbright scholar and worked at the New York State Assembly as a graduate fellow. She completed a dual B.Sc. and M.A. from Pennsylvania State University's Schreyer Honors College in education theory and policy, with a special focus on community and civic engagement.
