Marina Galazidis
Senior Program Officer for Leadership

Marina joined New Visions in 2014.  She is responsible for working with assistant principals to improve organizational leadership, move teacher development and ensure student achievement. She previously held the position of instructional specialist for ELA in which she was responsible for writing, revising and implementing the New Visions Charter High Schools ELA curriculum.  Before joining New Visions, Marina served as an assistant principal of instruction at New Design High School and previously taught in district schools for ten years. She earned her B.A. in English from Bowdoin College, holds an M.A. in teaching English from Smith College and an M.A. in educational leadership from NYU.

Triveni Gandhi
Data Analyst

Triveni Gandhi is responsible for providing data analysis and reporting to support data-driven decision-making within the organization. Before joining the team, she was a policy research specialist in the office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. Previously, she conducted independent research in Rajasthan, India, where she designed, tested and implemented an original survey instrument across 64 villages. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from Cornell University and an M.A. in global finance, trade, and economics from the Joseph Korbel School of International Relations. 

Tasha Garcia
Data Visualization Specialist

Tasha is responsible for designing and maintaining the New Visions ecosystem of data visualizations and dashboards that support data-driven decision-making within the organization. Prior to joining New Visions, she served as a program associate at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation where she monitored and evaluated grants in the scholarly communications program and provided staff with presentation and data visualization support. She holds a B.A. in art from Yale University and an M.P.A. from New York University's Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.

Matthew Gill
Director of Operations, Charter Schools

Matthew joined New Visions in 2012. He is responsible for the day to day management of the network's operations group and supporting the work of the charter schools in key operational areas, including fiscal and compliance management. He previously served as a director of finance for the Center for Urban Education at Pace University. Matthew holds a B.S. in finance and accounting from New York University and an M.S. in education from Pace University.

Nikki Giunta
Chief of Staff

Nikki joined New Visions in 2013. She is responsible for supporting the executive members of senior management in executing critical strategy across the organization and helping ensure intentionality of focus. Previously a kindergarten teacher in Alexandria, Virginia, Nikki holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy, a master's in elementary education from the University of Virginia and a second master's degree in education in measurement, evaluation, statistics and assessment from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Jonathan Green
Director of School Leadership

Jon is responsible for working directly with principals on the continued development of our charter network’s system for observation and feedback as well as managing the relationship between this process and teachers’ progress on the career ladder.  Jon will also work with principals to ensure that each school effectively plans for and meets all academic targets outlined in the charter and promised to the state. Prior to New Visions, Jon, a former educator, served as the director of school leadership for TNTP in Philadelphia, after working as a network leader here in New York at the Urban Assembly schools. Jon holds an M.S. in teaching from The New School for Social Research and a B.A in English and religion from the University of Vermont.

Jeremy Greenfield
Deputy Director of Micro-certifications

Jeremy is responsible for developing and leading the new teacher MicroCert program initiatives.  Before coming to New Visions, Jeremy worked as a college inquiry coach at CARA (College Access: Research & Action) where he helped NYC DOE schools establish systems to support student college-going.  As a teacher educator, Jeremy has taught in-service and prospective teachers at the undergraduate and graduate level, and worked as a literacy coach at Bronx Latin, a New Visions Affinity school.  Jeremy has also worked as a classroom teacher, teaching both English and ESL. He holds a B.A. from Skidmore College, an M.A. from Teachers College and a Ph.D. in urban education from the CUNY Graduate Center. 

Pooran (Ron) Gurcharan
Staff Accountant

Ron Gurcharan joined New Visions in 1995. He processes accounts payable and other accounting disbursements. Prior to joining New Visions, Gurcharan worked as the accounting clerk at Worldwide Water Technologies.

Chad Hall
Program Officer

Chad is responsible for managing PowerSchool across the charter school network.  Before coming to New Visions, he worked as the student information systems administrator in the Montgomery County Public Schools system in Virginia. He holds a B.S. in Liberal Studies from Lee University and has certification in Pearson’s PowerSchool Administration and Management program.

Christine Han
Program Officer

Christine is responsible for collecting data related to organizational and department level activities that support deeper understandings of New Visions’ impact. Prior to joining New Visions, Christine was a teacher at Central Park East 1 Elementary and a researcher at various educational advocacy organizations in New York City. She holds an M.A. in elementary inclusive education from Teachers College and is currently pursuing an M.P.A. from NYU. 

Marisa Harford
Director of Teacher Residencies

 Marisa Harford joined New Visions in 2008. She is responsible for managing the teacher certification team, which prepares highly qualified novice teachers through residency programs, builds capacity in mentoring and support of new teacher development, and crafts sustainable systems and tools for residencies. Her previous experience includes seven years of secondary-level teaching and instructional coaching at Bronx middle and high schools. She holds a B.A. in English from Yale University, an M.S. in secondary English education from Lehman College, and an advanced certificate in teacher, school and building leadership development through the New Visions-Hunter College CLASS program.

Leonore Haskell
Institutional Giving Officer

Leonore is responsible for shepherding fundraising efforts for select programs and funders. Before coming to New Visions, she worked at the American Committee for the Tel Aviv Foundation (ACTAF) for more than seven years where she developed successful fundraising strategies and initiated systems for donor prospect research, cultivation, and stewardship. She holds an M.A. in international affairs from the New School and B.A. in political science from the University of Geneva.

Danielle Hayden
Strategic Data Facilitator

Danielle works with a portfolio of NYCDOE Community Schools to support implementation of New Visions data tools and develop the reliable organizational processes that ensure all students have the best chance of graduating from high school.Before coming to New Visions, Danielle was an elementary school teacher in Charlotte, NC.  She has taught all grades in mathematics ranging from kindergarten through sixth grade with most of her time spent in grades four and six.  She held a range of responsibilities while in Charlotte including leading math development and working with various school leadership teams. Danielle holds an M.A. in elementary education from The College of William & Mary and a B.A. from Virginia Tech.

Barbara Hubert
Instructional Specialist

Barbara is responsible for developing the special education instructional framework and collaborating with the curriculum and instruction unit. Before coming to New Visions, Barbara supported teachers with curriculum development and creating inclusive learning environments as a Hunter College instructor and special education coordinator. Previously, she was a special education teacher across content areas. She holds an M.S.Ed. from Long Island University - Brooklyn and is finishing up her Ph.D. in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center. 

Eunice Hudak
Program Officer

Eunice joined New Visions in 2012. She is responsible for leading and supporting student recruitment and community engagement in the New Visions charter high schools. She previously served as a college access adviser at Gear Up.  She holds an M.A in composition rhetoric from Lehman College. 

Jameson Jackson
Full Stack Developer

Jameson is responsible for developing and maintaining software applications. Prior to New Visions, he served in both the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps where he worked on a wide-range of education initiatives. He holds a B.S. in finance from Monmouth University and is a graduate of Rutgers Coding Bootcamp.

 

Menaka Kannan
Data Analyst

Menaka is responsible for contributing to the analysis, processing, and presentation of data related to New Visions' network of schools. Prior to joining New Visions, she worked as an administrative aide providing analytical, reporting and organizational support to an international NGO at the United Nations. She previously taught science and general education in a variety of elementary classroom and community education settings. She holds an MA in teaching from Mary Baldwin College and a BSc. in biochemistry from the University of Virginia. 

Emily Kelleher
Resident Researcher

Emily supports the policy unit in qualitative and quantitative research to develop programs, apply best practices, and assist in organizational projects. Emily previously interned at The Center for Education Reform in Washington, D.C., as a research assistant. She holds a Bachelor's in mathematics from Wofford College with a minor in economics and is pursuing a Master's in education policy and social analysis at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Terence Kennedy
Technology Operations Manager

Terence oversees the support activities, dissemination of knowledge and best practices, and implementation of scalable and organizationally aligned systems and services across New Visions and its network of charter schools. Prior to New Visions, Terence worked at The Juilliard School as the I.T. coordinator and spent three years working in a variety of roles for the Virgin Group in the United Kingdom. Terence holds a B.S. with honors from Liverpool John Moores University in England.

Stacey King
Director of School Support

Stacey is responsible for managing a team of facilitators, coaches and consultants who work closely with Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn principals to help them meet their schools' performance targets in all critical areas. Prior to this role, Stacey joined New Visions in 2012 as the founding principal of the New Visions Charter High School for Advanced Math and Science II (AMS II), after working for the New York City Department of Education as an assistant principal, school counselor and academic advisor in the Bronx, N.Y. Stacey has a background in finance both at  Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, Inc. and a private investment company where she held several positions, including vice president of marketing and client services, vice president of institutional equity and trader.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in literature from Catholic University of America, a master’s degree  in school counseling from CUNY Lehman College and a certificate in school building leadership from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Caitlin Klein
Knowledge Management Specialist

Caitlin is responsible for supporting leadership in developing organizational infrastructure towards improving integration and collaboration across all domains of work. Before coming to New Visions, Caitlin worked for Success Academy, where she focused on user research, product management and development, as well as, teacher and principal training. She holds a B.A. in English from SUNY Geneseo and an M.A. in English from NYU. 

Sophie Knowles
Instructional Specialist

Sophie is responsible for collaborating with middle school math teacher teams and New Visions staff to produce inquiry-based curriculum aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards. Prior to her arrival at New Visions, she served as a Fulbright scholar to research Finnish education policy and its impact on student learning. She most recently taught college preparatory mathematics with the CUNY Start Program. She holds an M.S. from Brooklyn College and is currently completing an M.A. in education and globalization at the University of Oulu.

Erik Laby
Program Officer

Erik joined New Visions in 2012, originally as a resident researcher.  In his current role, he provides data collection, reporting and analytic support for a variety of Common Core-aligned instructional grant-funded programs at New Visions. Erik holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. in educational psychology from Hunter College.

Monique Lawrence
Elementary/Middle Schools Team Lead

Monique is responsible for working with a portfolio of NYCDOE Community Schools to implement a set of New Visions data tools and develop reliable organizational processes to ensure that all students have the best possible chance of graduating from high school. Prior to joining New Visions, she served as director of data and assessment at La Cima Elementary Charter School in Brooklyn, where she managed the assessment and evaluation process to provide educators with actionable information about student performance.  She also worked as a finance analyst at JWT and retail analyst at Liz Claiborne, generating reports to inform decision making. She holds a Masters in public administration from Syracuse University and B.S. in management from MIT.

Isaac Leamer
Digital Communications Officer

Isaac oversees digital communications and social media at New Visions. A digital marketing and social media specialist, Isaac most recently developed content strategy for the Americas Asset and Wealth Management division of Deutsche Bank. His previous experience includes managing media for World TeamTennis and program development for the Committee for Public Education Reform at Public Interest Projects. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Isaac began his professional career as a Teach for America corps member in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he taught 8th grade ELA and social studies.

Manny Ledesma
Technology Support Associate

Manny is responsible for supporting technology operations and user support issues at New Visions. He has over 10 years of experience in end user support, computer deployment and network operations. He previously worked as an IT support manager at a global recruitment firm, handling all US IT operations, managing the technology infrastructure and helpdesk ticketing system. He holds Dell Systems and Blackberry Enterprise Server technician certifications. 

Jennifer Lee
Instructional Specialist

Jennifer joined New Visions in 2013. She is responsible for collaborating with high school math teacher teams and New Visions staff to produce inquiry-based curriculum aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards. She previously taught math to middle and high school students. She holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Barnard College and an master's degree in secondary education from Loyola Marymount University.

Anna Lee
Finance Program Officer

Anna provides expertise and technical assistance in fiscal analysis, systems and tools and accounting for New Visions and the New Visions Charter High Schools network. Prior to joining New Visions, Anna worked at The Children's Aid Society, where she handled accounting for their charter school and several special purpose entities. Anna holds a B.A. in psychology and classical civilizations from Boston University and an MPA from Baruch College.

Timothy Lent
Instructional Specialist

Timothy is responsible for collaborating with social studies teacher teams to produce Common Core-aligned curricula.  For the last six years, he worked as a social studies teacher at the High School for Youth and Community Development where he developed Common Core-aligned materials for global history through the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC).  He holds a B.A. in history and social studies education from SUNY Fredonia, and an M.A. in history from Brooklyn College.

Andrew Leonard
Strategic Data Facilitator

Andrew helps a portfolio of NYCDOE Community Schools implement New Visions data tools, which provide reliable organizational processes that ensure all students have the best chance of graduating from high school. Before coming to New Visions, Andrew was an elementary teacher in Alexandria, VA. He has taught both fourth and sixth grades and held a range of responsibilities including school leadership team, after school coordinator, and administrative intern. Andrew holds a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in school administration from George Mason University.

Michelle Lewis-Mondesir
Senior Program Officer for Leadership

Michelle joined New Visions in 2012. She is responsible for working with assistant principals to improve organizational leadership, move teacher development and ensure student achievement.  She previously held the position of instructional specialist for social studies in which she was responsible for collaborating with teacher teams and New Visions staff to produce inquiry-based curriculum in social studies. Before joining New Visions she was a history educator and department leader at the Academy for Environmental Leadership. She has a M.S.Ed in educational leadership from Brooklyn College, a M.A from NYU and a B.A from Hunter College.

Dmitri Leybman
Strategic Data Facilitator

Dmitri Leybman actively engages with schools to guide them in their efforts to leverage student data and deploy it to help students reach their academic goals. Over the past several years, he has worked as an instructor in Indianapolis Public Schools and Upward Bound, teaching science and math to an academically diverse student body. Dmitri completed his degree at the University of Chicago where he doubled majored in political science and English language and literature, with a focus on political economics. He has his Master’s from Marian College in Indianapolis with a specialization in special education and secondary science. 
 

Igor Lima
Information Security Officer

Igor joined New Visions in 2015. He is responsible for the security controls that maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems. He previously served as a data analyst in the school systems and data analytics unit at New Visions. He is a certified AWS Solutions Architect and holds a B.A. in communications and marketing from Boston College.
 

Shanell Lockhart
Program Officer, Curriculum and Instruction/CCR

Shanell is responsible for providing program and administrative support to the instructional team. She previously worked for Classroom, Inc., where she spent over five years as development associate. Shanell earned her B.A. with honors in comparative literature from Brown University and is currently pursuing her M.S. in urban policy analysis and management at the Milano School of International Affairs, Management & Urban Policy, The New School.

Greg Lucas
Deputy Director of School Culture and Climate

Greg is responsible for leading school staff in the implementation and continuous improvement of positive school culture and climate across the New Visions Charter High Schools Network. Greg has over 15 years of school-based youth development experience and served on the founding leadership team for Brooklyn Democracy Academy Transfer High School. Prior to New Visions, Greg served as the director of community engagement and Bronx programs for DREAM, also known as Harlem RBI. He holds a B.A. in psychology from Long Island University, Post Campus and a Master's in social work from University at Albany, SUNY. 

Heidi Dien Ludwig
School Support Facilitator

Heidi Dien Ludwig joined New Visions in 2006. She provides leadership and professional development to schools in the Bronx network. She previously provided guidance to schools under the New Century High Schools Initiative. Before joining New Visions, Heidi served as the local instructional superintendent in Region 2 and as the middle school liaison to the New York City Department of Education. During nearly four decades working in public education, she has been a teacher, administrator, trainer and facilitator, and was named a Title I Distinguished Educator in 1998. She holds an M.A. in educational psychology from New York University and a certificate of advanced study in educational administration and leadership.

Dara Lustgarten
Program Officer, Community Engagement

Dara is responsible for supporting New Visions Charter High Schools in developing and integrating school community partnerships across the network of charter schools.  Before coming to New Visions, she was employed by Community League of the Heights (CLOTH) as a counselor advocate and school liaison for (CHAH) Community Health Academy of the Heights.  She holds a B.A. in history from Duke University and an M.S. in sports business with a concentration in community relations and non profit management from New York University. She is also the president and founding member of the New York League of Puerto Rican Women, Inc.
