Marina Galazidis
Director of Charter School Leadership

Marina joined New Visions in 2014. In direct support of all New Visions Charter High Schools, Marina works closely with school leadership teams and is responsible for ensuring the strategic design and implementation of the New Visions charter model. She has held two previous roles at New Visions: working with assistant principals to improve organizational leadership and teacher development, and supporting teachers as an instructional specialist and curriculum writer for ELA. Before joining New Visions, Marina served as an assistant principal of instruction at New Design High School and previously taught in NYC schools for ten years. She earned her B.A. in English from Bowdoin College, holds an M.A. in teaching English from Smith College and an M.A. in educational leadership from NYU.

Mercy Gambrah
Program Coordinator, School Support

Mercy is responsible for providing administrative and management support to the chief schools officer and school support team leaders. In this role, she works both internally and externally in support of programs within the department. Before coming to New Visions, she provided program operations and administrative support at a private school in Ghana, and other supports at a high-performing charter management organization in Harlem. Her expertise includes initiating and completing various school-wide projects related to operations, school assessment and accountability, community relations and strategic planning. She holds a B.A in international relations/politics from Ursinus College.

Lina Garzon
Talent Acquisition Associate

Lina Garzon supports our organization-wide and campus recruitment efforts. Before joining New Visions, she was part of the talent acquisition team at IPG Mediabrands where she held different positions in entry-level/campus recruitment and diversity & inclusion. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Baruch College.  

Matthew Gill
Director of Operations, Charter Schools

Matthew joined New Visions in 2012. He is responsible for the day to day management of the network's operations group and supporting the work of the charter schools in key operational areas, including fiscal and compliance management. He previously served as a director of finance for the Center for Urban Education at Pace University. Matthew holds a B.S. in finance and accounting from New York University and an M.S. in education from Pace University.

Nikki Giunta
Chief of Staff

Nikki joined New Visions in 2013. She is responsible for supporting the executive members of senior management in executing critical strategy across the organization and helping ensure intentionality of focus. Previously a kindergarten teacher in Alexandria, Virginia, Nikki holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy, a master's in elementary education from the University of Virginia and a second master's degree in education in measurement, evaluation, statistics and assessment from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Jonathan Green
Continuous Improvement Coach

Jon is responsible for working directly with principals on the continued development of our charter network’s system for observation and feedback as well as managing the relationship between this process and teachers’ progress on the career ladder.  Jon will also work with principals to ensure that each school effectively plans for and meets all academic targets outlined in the charter and promised to the state. Prior to New Visions, Jon, a former educator, served as the director of school leadership for TNTP in Philadelphia, after working as a network leader here in New York at the Urban Assembly schools. Jon holds an M.S. in teaching from The New School for Social Research and a B.A in English and religion from the University of Vermont.

Jeremy Greenfield
Deputy Director of College Success

Jeremy is responsible for developing and leading college program initiatives.  Before coming to New Visions, Jeremy worked as a college inquiry coach at CARA (College Access: Research & Action) where he helped NYC DOE schools establish systems to support student college-going.  As a teacher educator, Jeremy has taught in-service and prospective teachers at the undergraduate and graduate level, and worked as a literacy coach at Bronx Latin, a New Visions Affinity school.  Jeremy has also worked as a classroom teacher, teaching both English and ESL. He holds a B.A. from Skidmore College, an M.A. from Teachers College and a Ph.D. in urban education from the CUNY Graduate Center. 

Chad Hall
Program Officer

Chad is responsible for managing PowerSchool across the charter school network.  Before coming to New Visions, he worked as the student information systems administrator in the Montgomery County Public Schools system in Virginia. He holds a B.S. in Liberal Studies from Lee University and has certification in Pearson’s PowerSchool Administration and Management program.

Christine Han
User Researcher

Christine is responsible for researching how our schools use New Visions' data tools to inform design improvements and ensure alignment between tool development and New Visions school support strategies. Prior to joining New Visions, Christine was a teacher at Central Park East 1 Elementary and a researcher at various educational advocacy organizations in New York City. She holds an M.A. in elementary inclusive education from Teachers College and an M.P.A. from NYU.

Marisa Harford
Director of Teacher Residencies

 Marisa Harford joined New Visions in 2008. She is responsible for managing the teacher certification team, which prepares highly qualified novice teachers through residency programs, builds capacity in mentoring and support of new teacher development, and crafts sustainable systems and tools for residencies. Her previous experience includes seven years of secondary-level teaching and instructional coaching at Bronx middle and high schools. She holds a B.A. in English from Yale University, an M.S. in secondary English education from Lehman College, and an advanced certificate in teacher, school and building leadership development through the New Visions-Hunter College CLASS program.

Emani Harris
Operations Assistant

Emani is responsible for providing support to the Admin. team.  He manages all aspects of facilities, including vendor and building office relations. He brings an array of knowledge in the home improvement, electric, and plumbing industries, and is well versed in technology and computer information systems. He attended NYC College of Technology and received certifications including NYS Green Cleaning Program, OSHA 10-Hour construction site safety, and Fire Safety Awareness.    

Danielle Hayden
Lead Strategic Data Facilitator for Literacy

Danielle works with a portfolio of NYCDOE elementary and middle community schools to support the implementation of New Visions Data Portal and develop reliable organizational processes that ensure all students have the best chance for success. She also supports the development of the New Visions Data Portal in partnership with Teaching Matters to specifically systematize literacy development in grades K-3.  Before coming to New Visions, Danielle was an elementary school teacher in Charlotte, NC, where she taught math and reading in multiple grades.  Danielle holds an M.A. in elementary education from The College of William & Mary and a B.A. from Virginia Tech.  

Lichi Hsu
Compensation & Benefits Analyst

Lichi is responsible for assisting in the development and administration of a competitive, fair and equitable total compensation and benefits program that aligns with New Visions' culture and values and is compliant with legal requirements.  She previously worked as a talent acquisition associate at a WPP-owned marketing agency – Hogarth Worldwide, where she focused on recruitment, staffing and compensation for the North America region. Prior to that, she worked as senior HR specialist at HTC Corporation, a global smartphone and VR company with the responsibilities in handling recruitment, compensation, benefits, and employee relations for Asia Pacific region. She holds a master's degree in human resource management from Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan. 

Barbara Hubert
Instructional Specialist

Barbara is responsible for developing the special education instructional framework and collaborating with the curriculum and instruction unit. Before coming to New Visions, Barbara supported teachers with curriculum development and creating inclusive learning environments as a Hunter College instructor and special education coordinator. Previously, she was a special education teacher across content areas. She holds an M.S.Ed. from Long Island University - Brooklyn and is finishing up her Ph.D. in Urban Education from the CUNY Graduate Center. 

Eunice Hudak
Senior Family Engagement Manager

Eunice joined New Visions in 2012. She works with schools to develop systems and frameworks that foster strong school/family partnerships to ensure student success. Her work involves aligning New Visions’ family engagement practices with the most current and viable research in the field, leading professional development sessions for school staff and administration, and directly supporting families through the coordination of the Parent Leadership Training Institute and New Visions’ Family Advisory Council. She received a Bachelor's degree from Hunter College School of Education, an M.A. in composition rhetoric from Lehman College and a certificate in family engagement in Education from HarvardX.

Zenita Ifill
Human Resources Associate

Zenita joined New Visions in 2015. In her role, she assists the Payroll/HRIS team, with new hire orientation, invoice processing and various other payroll related duties. She also provides support for other HR units including the talent acquisition team and talent management team. Before coming to New Visions, she worked as an after-school program director providing, academic assistance to various elementary schools, and served, priorit to that, as a Department of Health compliance coordinator at Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Queens College.  

Jameson Jackson
Software Architect

Jameson is responsible for providing technical leadership for the design, development, implementation, and testing of software applications. Prior to New Visions, he served in both the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps where he worked on a wide-range of education initiatives. He holds a B.S. from Monmouth University and a graduate certificate in Full-Stack Web Development from Rutgers University.

 

Jack Jiang
Full Stack Developer

Jack is responsible for developing and maintaining software applications. Prior to New Visions, he was a teaching fellow at Fullstack Academy, mentoring students in full stack development. He holds a B.S. from CUNY Brooklyn in computer science.

Kelly Jones
Strategic Data Facilitator

Kelly supports a portfolio of NYC DOE elementary and middle community renewal schools to implement New Visions data tools and analyze data to ensure that high-need students receive supports necessary for academic success. Prior to joining New Visions, she taught both middle and elementary school and was a trainer and supervisor or new teachers at Franklin Elementary School in Roxbury, New Jersey. She holds a B.A. in English from Moravian College and an M.A. in instructional leadership from Centenary University. She also obtained her Principal and Supervisor Certification from Centenary University.

Dora Kastel
Instructional Specialist, Science

Dora is supporting science teaching and learning in the New Visions network through the development of standards-aligned instructional materials along with facilitation of teacher professional learning. She previously taught middle school science and math in East Harlem, and was a professional development leader at the American Museum of Natural History. She holds a B.A. in geology from the University of Pennsylvania, M.A. and EdM degrees in science and math education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and is currently working on her PhD in science education.

 

Terence Kennedy
Technology Operations Manager

Terence oversees the support activities, dissemination of knowledge and best practices, and implementation of scalable and organizationally aligned systems and services across New Visions and its network of charter schools. Prior to New Visions, Terence worked at The Juilliard School as the I.T. coordinator and spent three years working in a variety of roles for the Virgin Group in the United Kingdom. Terence holds a B.S. with honors from Liverpool John Moores University in England.

Sophie Knowles
Instructional Specialist

Sophie is responsible for collaborating with middle school teacher teams and New Visions staff to produce instructional routines for literacy. Prior to her arrival at New Visions, she served as a Fulbright scholar to research Finnish education policy and its impact on student learning. She has also taught middle school mathematics and, more recently, college preparatory math with the CUNY Start Program. She holds an M.S. in math education from Brooklyn College and an international M.A. in education and globalization from the University of Oulu, Finland.

Erik Laby
Quality Assurance Manager

Erik is responsible for ensuring feature and data quality across products produced by New Visions' school systems and data analytics units.  He also creates data collection systems for innovative instructional initiatives in science, math and history. He joined New Visions as a resident researcher in 2012 and has held program coordinator and program officer titles prior to his current role.  Erik holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. in educational psychology from Hunter College.

Monique Lawrence
Elementary/Middle Schools Team Lead

Monique is responsible for working with a portfolio of NYCDOE Community Schools to implement a set of New Visions data tools and develop reliable organizational processes to ensure that all students have the best possible chance of graduating from high school. Prior to joining New Visions, she served as director of data and assessment at La Cima Elementary Charter School in Brooklyn, where she managed the assessment and evaluation process to provide educators with actionable information about student performance.  She also worked as a finance analyst at JWT and retail analyst at Liz Claiborne, generating reports to inform decision making. She holds a Masters in public administration from Syracuse University and B.S. in management from MIT.

Isaac Leamer
Senior Digital Communications Officer

Isaac oversees digital communications and social media at New Visions. A digital marketing and social media specialist, Isaac previously developed content strategy for the Americas Asset and Wealth Management division of Deutsche Bank. His previous experience also includes managing media for World TeamTennis and program development for the Committee for Public Education Reform at Public Interest Projects. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Isaac began his professional career as a Teach for America corps member in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he taught 8th grade ELA and social studies.

Manny Ledesma
Technology Support Associate

Manny is responsible for supporting technology operations and user support issues at New Visions. He has over 10 years of experience in end user support, computer deployment and network operations. He previously worked as an IT support manager at a global recruitment firm, handling all US IT operations, managing the technology infrastructure and helpdesk ticketing system. He holds Dell Systems and Blackberry Enterprise Server technician certifications. 

Jennifer Lee
Instructional Specialist

Jennifer joined New Visions in 2013. She is responsible for collaborating with high school math teacher teams and New Visions staff to produce inquiry-based curriculum aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards. She previously taught math to middle and high school students. She holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Barnard College and an master's degree in secondary education from Loyola Marymount University.

Anna Lee
Budget Manager

Anna provides expertise and technical assistance in fiscal analysis, systems and tools, as well as, budget and reporting for New Visions and New Visions Charter High Schools. Prior to joining New Visions, Anna worked at The Children's Aid Society, where she handled accounting for their charter school and several special purpose entities. Anna holds a B.A. in psychology and classical civilizations from Boston University and an MPA from Baruch College.

Timothy Lent
Instructional Specialist

Timothy is responsible for collaborating with social studies teacher teams to produce Common Core-aligned curricula.  For the last six years, he worked as a social studies teacher at the High School for Youth and Community Development where he developed Common Core-aligned materials for global history through the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC).  He holds a B.A. in history and social studies education from SUNY Fredonia, and an M.A. in history from Brooklyn College.

Andrew Leonard
Lead Strategic Data Facilitator for Community Schools

Andrew helps DOE staff and a portfolio of NYCDOE Community Schools implement New Visions data tools, which provide reliable organizational processes that ensure all students have the best chance of graduating from high school. Additionally, he provides a scope, sequence and professional development to help staff implement and monitor the effectiveness of their strategic data conversations. Before coming to New Visions, Andrew taught both fourth and sixth grades in Alexandria, VA. Andrew holds a B.S. in elementary education from the University of Maryland and an M.A. in school administration from George Mason University.  

Michelle Lewis-Mondesir
Associate Director for Performance Management & Development, Charter

Michelle joined New Visions in 2012. She is responsible for leading performance management and training for all New Visions Charter High Schools. Previously, she served as the senior program officer of leadership, working with assistant principals to improve organizational leadership. Prior to that role, she was a social studies instructional specialist, collaborating with charter teacher teams and New Visions staff to produce an inquiry-based curriculum.  Before joining New Visions she served as a history educator and department leader at the Academy for Environmental Leadership. She has an M.S.Ed in educational leadership from Brooklyn College, an M.A from NYU and a B.A from Hunter College.

 

Dmitri Leybman
Strategic Data Facilitator

Dmitri Leybman actively engages with schools to guide them in their efforts to leverage student data and deploy it to help students reach their academic goals. Over the past several years, he has worked as an instructor in Indianapolis Public Schools and Upward Bound, teaching science and math to an academically diverse student body. Dmitri completed his degree at the University of Chicago where he doubled majored in political science and English language and literature, with a focus on political economics. He has his Master’s from Marian College in Indianapolis with a specialization in special education and secondary science. 
 

Igor Lima
Information Security Officer

Igor joined New Visions in 2015. He is responsible for the security controls that maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems. He previously served as a data analyst in the school systems and data analytics unit at New Visions. He is a certified AWS Solutions Architect and holds a B.A. in communications and marketing from Boston College.
 

Shanell Lockhart
Program Officer, College Success

Shanell supports strategic planning for the college and career readiness team, including communications, recruitment, and management of key initiatives. She also provides program and logistical support for all grant-funded curriculum projects. She previously worked for Classroom, Inc., where she spent over five years as development associate. Shanell holds a B.A. with honors in comparative literature from Brown University and a M.S. in urban policy analysis and management from the Milano School of International Affairs, Management & Urban Policy, The New School. 

Greg Lucas
Deputy Director of School Culture and Climate

Greg is responsible for leading school staff in the implementation and continuous improvement of positive school culture and climate across the New Visions Charter High Schools Network. Greg has over 15 years of school-based youth development experience and served on the founding leadership team for Brooklyn Democracy Academy Transfer High School. Prior to New Visions, Greg served as the director of community engagement and Bronx programs for DREAM, also known as Harlem RBI. He holds a B.A. in psychology from Long Island University, Post Campus and a Master's in social work from University at Albany, SUNY.
