New Visions for Public Schools is proud to announce the launch of New Visions MicroCert, a new program that offers professional development courses for teachers applicable towards New York State PD requirements and as P-credits towards NYC salary differentials.
The proposed courses, developed from New Visions' 25 years of experience working with NYC schools, are hands-on, interactive, and grounded in real classroom needs. All courses are taught by expert teachers and instructional coaches.
New Visions MicroCert plans to offer courses on a range of topics, from using Google Apps for Education to effectively mentoring teachers. For example, in our "Managing Student Production, Assessment and Feedback in Google Apps for EDU" course, teachers will explore how the cloud-based Google Apps for EDU platform, along with Chrome Extensions, Drive Apps and Add-ons, can transform the student-teacher workflow, improve the timeliness and quality of teacher feedback and support the student revision process. "Supporting the Next Generation: Effective Mentoring and Coaching of Novice Teachers" will develop experienced teachers’ capacity for supporting new teacher practice through effective mentoring strategies using the Danielson Framework as a coaching and feedback tool. Courses pending approval from NYCDOE for the the fall semester (Sept. 14 - Jan. 4) can be found below.
