Reality Check is a student led, adult supported club that aims to expose the tobacco industries tactics of targeting young people. AMS II has partnered with this outstanding organization and helped to empower the community through youth voice, to demand societal support and hold the tobacco industry accountable for its actions. We aim to change the social norms that support those actions which will help us move to a smoke-free NYC.

In the third trimester at AMS II we have brought the club back for students to participate in. In its short time running at AMS II the club members have already accomplished so much. On Friday, May 25th, the Student Government hosted its second annual Student Leadership Conference. Reality Check had the opportunity to participate in the conference and successfully spread the word about initiatives that take place throughout the year and educate other scholars on the effects tobacco has on the youth. 

With the Youth Summit coming up, club members will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and initiatives with everyone involved in the Reality Check Network across New York State. The Youth Summit will be taking place at Cazenovia college July 10th-11th. We’re looking forward to all of the information club members will be bringing back from this opportunity.
