Albert Shanker College Scholarship Fund

Summary: Two hundred scholarships awarded to public high school graduates each year.
Eligibility: New York City public high school seniors with high academic standing and demonstrated leadership in school and community. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for Pell Grants (need-based).
Amount: $5,000 ($1,250 per year for four years of college)

Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship

Summary: For graduating high school seniors with financial need who have worked as golf caddies.
Eligibility: Must be nominated by a golf club, have caddied for a minimum of two years, have completed the junior year of high school with above a B average and demonstrate financial need. Must attend a participating college.
Amount: Full tuition and housing, renewable for four years.

Columbus Citizens Foundation College Scholarship

Summary: In memory of Italian ancestors who came to America to build better lives for themselves and their families and in hope that future generations of Italian Americans will honor those who came before them by upholding values of love of country, family and tireless work ethic.
Eligibility: Students of Italian descent who are from a household where the per person income does not exceed $25,000, demonstrates community service and has at least a 3.25 GPA.

Cystic Fibrosis Scholarship Fund

Summary: Based on educational achievement, leadership and financial need.
Eligibility: For high school seniors with cystic fibrosis planning to attend an undergraduate college, university, or vocational school. Must be diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

Summary: For students actively working for peace and justice.
Eligibility: Must demonstrate financial need and participation in expanding civil rights, economic justice and international solidarity. Must plan to enroll at an accredited college or university. Noncitizens may apply.

The Dell Scholars Program

Summary: For high school students participating in an approved AVID program.
Eligibility: Must be graduating from an accredited high school this academic year, earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA, participating in an MSDF-approved college- readiness program for a minimum of two years, planning to enter a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited higher education institution in the fall directly after your graduation from high school. Must demonstrate financial need and have U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Ferdinand Torres Scholarship

Summary: For legally blind high school seniors accepted to a full-time undergraduate program. Preference given to applicants residing in the New York City metropolitan area and to new immigrants to the United States.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund/General College Scholarship

Summary: Four scholarships offered for graduating high school seniors of Hispanic heritage.
Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551, planning to enroll at an accredited college, with at least a 3.0 GPA. Must apply for federal financial aid using the FAFSA form.

National Federation for the Blind Scholarships

Summary: For legally blind high school seniors planning to pursue a full-time postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a U.S. institution.

National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship Program

Summary: For students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, or social science research.
Eligibility: Must commit to working at NIH during the summer and as a full-time employee after graduation. Must be a U.S. citizen, national or qualified noncitizen with exceptional financial need and a minimum GPA of 3.5 (or in the top 5 percent of the class). Must be enrolled or accepted as a full-time student at an accredited, four-year undergraduate institution.

Scholarship Plus

Summary: This scholarship provides financial assistance and strong undergraduate support for outstanding but economically challenged New York City high school graduates. The scholarship includes a paid internship the summer after high school, academic counseling, summer job support, career advice and mentoring.
Eligibility: Applicants must be current high school senior who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement (top 10% of graduating class), significant financial need and a commitment to community services.  Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents.
Amount: Up to $8,000 a year as well as a paid internship
