Rocking the Boat
This is our 4th annual research trip to Rocking the Boat, a non-profit in the South Bronx that has students build boats and participate in on-water experiences such as rowing and sailing. Each year we have students collect water samples to test water quality and debunk misconceptions that the Bronx River is "so dirty!". After testing for pH levels, dissolved oxygen and turbidity many students find their results challenge their previous thinking. However there is still much restoration work to be done if the Bronx River is to be a swimmable resource again.
